Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who came out to Tempe Center for the Arts for our final concert of the season! Singing in front of a packed house at such a great venue was a perfect way to end a great season! Thanks also to the Rhythm Ramblers whose talents added so much to the concert, to our guest musicians and dancers, our emcee, and to all the people that helped out behind the scenes with the silent auction, stage management, videography, choreography, 50/50 raffle, ushering, video presentation, sound and lights. We couldn't have done it without you! And while we are at it, we'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who came to our concerts all season, bought season tickets, donated money, time, goods and services, and otherwise supported us throughout the year. You don't know how much it means to us! We look forward to next season, our...

Thank You! A generous donation to Ryan House

IMAG0851 Ryan House donation[caption id="attachment_4378" align="alignleft" width="480"] Just a sample of our donation, before its delivery What amazing supporters we have for the Carolyn Eynon Singers (CES)! With your help we collected enough gifts for Ryan House to fill the trunk and back seat of a Honda Civic. The gifts were delivered just days before Christmas. When the Ryan House staff saw us pull up they couldn't stop thanking us for the donation. They said that some of the items, like canned food, would be put in a box for families to use at home if needed. Certainly families with heavy medical expenses could use these small gifts in the holiday season. As I delivered the gifts, Ryan House founder Holly Cottor was hugging a steady stream of families both arriving and leaving. She hugged me warmly as well. That's the kind of place we were able to help, one where everybody gets a...

Pre-concert lecture at SCPA by Bruce Pulk, Phoenix Symphony timpanist

Bruce Pulk, principal timpanist for the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra and board member for the Carolyn Eynon Singers, will present a lecture prior CES' February 21st performance at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts.  Bruce is well-known for his pre-concert chats prior to PSO concerts, and CES are very excited to have him share his extensive knowledge of music with our audience again this year. Bruce's topic will be "Shakespeare in Love", and will cover various Shakespeare texts that have been set to music throughout the ages.  Attendees should expect to hear selections from Bruce's extensive collection of music and there may even be a visit from a CES quartet during the lecture! The lecture will begin at 2:15 on Sunday, February 21st prior to the Carolyn Eynon Singer's concert at 4:00.  Tickets for both the lecture and the concert are $25 and are available from the Scottsdale Center for the Performing...

Carolyn Eynon Singers team up with The Vig for Ryan House

GT6Our fundraiser for Ryan House at The Vig in McCormick Ranch was a great success, especially since it was kind of late in getting set up. Still, most of the members of CES and many family and friends either showed up at The Vig (www.thevig.us) before rehearsal for dinner or after rehearsal for a drink and a snack. In fact, some hearty souls showed up both before and after! We are not sure exactly how much money was raised yet, but I can assure you that the group did its best to drive up their tabs (for a good cause, of course!)  Special thanks to management and crew at The Vig for their generosity, and to our Vice President, Rex Salthun for making the arrangements.  I am pretty sure that #GivingTuesday will become a regular event for CES in the future. Here are some photos from the event.

Join CES at The Vig in a #GivingTuesday Benefit for Ryan House

VigVoucherCarolyn Eynon Singers is very proud to support Ryan House. Ryan House is an amazing organization that assists "children and their families as they navigate life-limiting or end-of-life journeys" through "multiple adaptive modes of on-site care". Ryan House is one of two such facilities in the USA, and provides its services free of charge to the families it serves. Please learn more about Ryan House at ryanhouse.org. As part of our effort to support Ryan House, CES will be participating in #GivingTuesday in conjunction with The Vig at McCormick Ranch (7345 N Vía Paseo Del Sur in Scottsdale). The Vig will donate 20% of the bill to CE Singers for all CES members, friends and families who let them know they are there for #GivingTuesday. CE Singers will in turn donate all money raised to Ryan House to help them continue their important work. If you are interested in helping out,...

CES performs for the Phoenix Rotary 100

rotary_certThe Carolyn Eynon Singers had their first performance of the season on November 6th when they performed for a luncheon of the Phoenix Rotary 100.  The choir was introduced by former Arizona Secretary of State, Ken Bennett, in a most unique way: he sang an original introductory song while accompanying himself on the guitar!  This was certainly a first for most of the choir! The choir performed a set of patriotic numbers in honor of Veteran's Day later that week.  The audience was very appreciative of our selections, including Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy and I'm Proud To Be An American.  The crowd especially loved the Armed Forces Medley, with members of the various branches of the armed services asked to stand for recognition when their branch's song was announced. CES wrapped up with a rousing George M. Cohan Finale, featuring Danny McKeon's tap dancing.  The audience stood and clapped along to...
